Nature Beckoning

Sitting here on my handy netbook, with facebook, twitter, therealsydney (good blog) and news.com.au opened up in different tabs, I look out the window of the library and think about the last time I revelled in the natural outdoors. I believe it was in the year 2003, I was walking alone in the dark, looking for a place to start again…

Alright so it wasn’t that long ago, and I just ripped off the lyrics from “Once Upon a Broken Heart” by the Beau Sisters.

Nevertheless it has been a while since I went outside just to enjoy nature. Sure I played some outdoor sport last week, but there is a difference between a soccer field, all cut and marked with lines, to the fresh air of a park, or local lake/reserve.

The photograph above was taken 1.5 years ago in my local area. I used to go for walks with my friend (we still occasionally do this). We visited the graceful swans and their brood and one day we came back and they were all grown up!

It’s time I get back out there and spend a good hour or so outside, as often as possible. It is so easy to get sucked into the computer, especially as a blogger and net surfer!

When was the last time you interacted with nature?
